Clean-Up Mineral Spirits

Polyurethane may slightly darken light-colored surfaces. Avoid using it on floors previously finished with wax, shellac, lacquer, or stains containing wax or stearates. Allow 8-10 hours for the polyurethane to dry, overnight for light traffic, and 48 hours before moving furniture. Rugs can be replaced after 30 days. Drying time may be extended by high humidity, low temperatures, or heavy application. One gallon covers approximately 450-550 square feet. Clean applicators with mineral spirits or paint thinner, and remember to stir the product well before and during use. Keep out of reach of children and do not ingest.

For New Wood Floors

Prepare the floor according to NOFMA or NWFA standards and use a lambswool, t-bar, brush or roller applicator to apply polyurethane, covering 450-550 square feet per gallon. Thicker coats will require longer drying times. Allow the first coat to dry for 8-10 hours before screening the floor and wiping it with a cloth dampened with mineral spirits to remove dust. Apply at least two more coats, ensuring each coat is fully dry and lightly.

For Screen and Recoat Process

Clean the floor with an abrasive pad dampened with mineral spirits to remove grease, oil, and dirt. Once dry, screen the floor with a No. 180 grit screen. Do not apply polyurethane over surfaces previously finished with shellac, lacquer, wax, or stains containing stearates. Then, apply the polyurethane using the same method as for new floors.

For Refinishing Old Wood Floors

Sand the floor down to bare wood using approved methods, ensuring all stains and finishes are removed. Apply polyurethane following the same steps outlined for
new floors.

Exceptional Build and Durability

BuildPro offers a very thick build that provides long-lasting protection and a rich, professional finish. Its high solids content (45%) ensures a durable coating that withstands everyday wear and tear on wood floors. This makes it ideal for both residential and commercial applications where durability is a priority.

Fast Drying and Easy Application

With a quick dry time of 6–8 hours, BuildPro allows for faster turnaround between coats, helping to speed up the overall project timeline. The product levels exceptionally well, minimizing brush or roller marks and delivering a smooth, even finish with less effort. Its versatility across applicators—roller, t-bar, pad, or brush—makes it user-friendly for a wide range of installers.

One Product from Start to Finish

BuildPro simplifies the finishing process by acting as both a sealer and topcoat, eliminating the need to mix or apply separate products. It can be used on any type of wood floor, making it a convenient, all-in-one solution for new installations, recoats, or refinishing projects. This not only saves time but also reduces the chances of product incompatibility during application.

Installation

To install with Forteko T200, pour the adhesive along the installation area and spread it evenly with a Forteko #5 trowel held at a 90° angle, ensuring a smooth application without puddles or overlapping. Place the flooring into the adhesive while it is still wet, checking periodically to ensure 100% coverage on the substrate. Do not exceed 45 minutes of open time (at 70°F and 50% RH), as higher humidity shortens open time and lower humidity extends it. If the adhesive skins over, remove it and reapply before continuing installation.
